While you are checking for the latest news on the internet, let us break to the best one we came across to, earlier today. So this interesting story is about an 8-year-old girl who found an ancient sword from a lake. The girl, Saga Vanecek, pulled out the old sword from a lake in Sweden over the summer. This is indeed a huge finding. We wonder who must this sword it belonged to? A ruler? A knight? who?

The most intriguing part of the whole story is that this sword is a historically significant finding as it is believed that the sword dates back to the pre-Viking era. And from the looks of it, it must have belonged to a warrior. And that sounds extremely mind-blowing. Like Woah!

And to add to the excellence of the incident, her name is Saga! As reported by a Swedish – English local newspaper, Saga Vanecek grew up in Minnesota and recently traveled to Sweden with her family where her family has relocated now to live with their relatives. She was spending time at her family’s summer house right across the Vidostern Lake in Tanno in Smaland some months back. It was a fine summer day when Saga found the sword in the lake. She was playing in the water that day when she made that significant discovery. It looked like a stick but when she pulled it out of the water she found out that it was a sword, not a stick, that too an ancient one.

According to the Swedish English newspaper, The Local, this is what Saga said:

“I picked it up and was going to drop it back in the water, but it had a handle, and I saw that it was a little bit pointy at the end and all rusty. I held it up in the air and I said ‘Daddy, I found a sword!’ When he saw that it bent and was rusty, he came running up and took it.”

Here’s the sword, have a look at it.

Wow no?

And here is Queen Saga with her soverign sword!

When Saga called her father, and when he looked at it, he first went straight to his neighbor to have them have a look at it. It looked very old, so he asked the neighbor what does he think of it. Later, the sword was taken to a colleague of Mr. Vanecik who is very much into the Middle Ages. Saga’s father thought it was a brilliant idea to ask him about the sword and he thought that the friend might know someone with the credentials who can have a closer look at it. And finally, Mr. Vanecik connected with an archaeologist, Annie Rosen who works at the Jonkoping County Museum. Initially, Annie Rosen was just sent pictures of the sword since she was on a vacation out of town. When she saw that pictures, she became so excited that she cut short her vacations to examine the sword closely.

An incident of a similar nature occurred last year in the United States when a 7-year-old girl Matilda Jones found a sword from Dozmary Pool in Cornwall. According to the Arthurian legend, Dozmary Pool is the exact place where the sword Excalibur was returned to the Lady of the Lake following Arthur’s death.

Right after the news of Saga/ sword reached the mainstream media and made its way up on the internet, people began their interesting comment on the entire saga. (see what I did here?)

Lo and behold! Queen of Sweden, Saga Vanecek.

So is she Prime Minister of Sweden now?

Finding something as important as an ancient asset is surely a big thing and according to the news going on, Saga will be rewarded for this. According to the headline news regarding this story, it is reported that she will receive an award or probably be involved in future projects related to the sword for her massive discovery. Currently, the case is handled by the National Archives of Sweden and they will be responsible for making the decision about the future of the sword and about the reward of Saga Vanecik.
According to the newspaper, The Local,

“As for whether Saga will be involved in future projects or receive a reward for her discovery, the case has now been handed over to the National Archives of Sweden, who will be responsible for making the decision.”
